Project: Conceptual Development of a New 19th Hole
Client: The Inglewood Golf and Curling Club
Location: Calgary, Alberta
In the Summer of 2019, the Inglewood Golf and Curling Club commissioned Ohnysty Crough Golf Design to explore multiple conceptual development options and corresponding pricing for a new 19th hole along the banks of the Bow River. The intent was to have the ability to provide members and guests with an 18-hole championship golf course while having the option to shut one hole down at a time for maintenance or renovation work – thus maximizing revenue. OC Golf developed multiple conceptual options (and corresponding cost estimates) which featured creative contours, strategically placed hazards, and multiple approach angles to provide a fun, interesting and low maintenance golf hole with character and design traits found throughout the course. The design team was also aware that the proposed 19th hole may not be included in the daily course rotation; and as such, designed wider fairways, enlarged green and tee surfaces, additional bunkers, and an expanded hole corridor to allow the area to function as a stand alone short game practice facility when not in use. Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in July 2021.
